On Tuesday, 12 May 2026, the Municipal Chief Executive for Nkwanta South, Mr Joseph Antwi, officially handed over the site for the construction of a new 24-hour market to Monajat Company during a brief ceremony held in Nkwanta.
The MCE noted that the handover marks the commencement of the President’s campaign pledge to establish 24-hour markets across all 261 Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Assemblies.
He urged the entire community to provide their full support to the contractor, ensuring the project proceeds smoothly without any interference.
In his remarks, the Director of Monajat Company, Mr Godwin, reassured both the MCE and the local residents that the project would be completed within the 36-month deadline.
He explained that all necessary arrangements are already in place to meet this schedule, further noting that the company intends to operate 24 hours a day to ensure the work is finished on time or perhaps even ahead of schedule.
He also appealed to the people to set aside their weapons and allow peace to prevail, emphasising that a stable environment is essential for the project to be successfully delivered for their collective benefit.
