‘The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Christian Tetteh Yohuno, has assured the Ghanaian public that the Ghana Police Service will deal ruthlessly with criminals across the country.

Warning criminals nationwide to lay down their weapons, he stated that the police have intensified operations to combat crime and enhance public safety.

He emphasised that the service remains dedicated to protecting citizens and will continue to pursue and apprehend those engaging in criminal activities.

Furthermore, he noted that advancements in modern policing techniques mean criminals will find it increasingly difficult to evade arrest.

The IGP made these remarks on Tuesday, 19 May, when the Mobile Money Advocacy Group Ghana presented him with a plaque and citation acknowledging his efforts in fighting crime, particularly offences targeting mobile money agents and operators.

During the presentation, he issued a direct warning: “We want to sound a strong warning to the criminals wherever they are, that we will not give up in our endeavor to make sure that we protect Ghanaians in general. And so, for that matter, they should lay down their arms, they should stop committing crime, because whatever they do and wherever they hide in this our modern day of policing, they can run, but they cannot hide,” he said.

Edward Ofori-Agyemang, President of the Mobile Money Advocacy Group Ghana, commended the IGP for his leadership and crime-fighting efforts.

He also urged the police to sustain their operations against criminals, especially those targeting mobile money vendors and agents, to improve security within the sector.
