Seven Rescued from Fatal Peki-Tsiame Crash

Firefighters from the Peki Fire Station successfully cut free seven passengers trapped inside a commercial vehicle following a fatal road traffic collision at Peki-Tsiame in the Volta Region.

The emergency crew was dispatched on Thursday afternoon after receiving a distress call reporting a crash near the Hospital Junction on the Peki–Asikuma highway.

Upon arrival, the rescue team found a Hyundai H200 commercial vehicle, travelling from Kpeve towards Asikuma, severely impacted. Firefighters extricated all seven occupants from the wreckage.

While the passengers survived the ordeal, a male pedestrian struck by the vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police officers later transported the deceased to the Peki Government Hospital mortuary for a post-mortem examination and further investigation.

The vehicle involved sustained extensive damage to its front section, including the windshield and headlights.

Following the incident, the Ghana National Fire Service issued an urgent appeal to motorists, reminding drivers to adhere strictly to speed limits and exercise maximum caution to prevent further loss of life on the roads.
