The Cambodian government has officially debunked widespread reports claiming it ordered African nationals holding expired immigration waivers to leave the country.

In a press clarification issued from Phnom Penh, the General Department of Immigration of the Ministry of Interior addressed the rumors circulating on several international news platforms.

Officials explicitly flagged reports published by online outlets, including Campaigner Online and News Ghana, which ran headlines alleging that Cambodia had issued a strict deadline for these individuals to depart.

According to the specified articles, the government had supposedly mandated that affected African nationals leave the country by May 31, 2026.

However, Cambodian immigration authorities moved swiftly to discredit the claims.

The Ministry of Interior categorically rejected the narrative, reassuring both local and international communities that no such directive has been enacted. In its official statement, the General Department of Immigration clarified that “the information published on those websites is completely untrue.”

To counter the spread of misinformation, immigration authorities urged the public to rely strictly on verified state channels.

“To obtain official information, the national and international public are requested to visit the official website of the General Department of Immigration,” the ministry stated, directing individuals to their official web portal or their dedicated hotline for legitimate updates regarding immigration policies.
