President John Dramani Mahama, alongside Vice President Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, has hosted a high-powered delegation from the Bono East Regional House of Chiefs at the presidency to deliberate on regional development and matters of national interest.

The traditional leaders, led by the President of the Bono East Regional House of Chiefs, Nana Owusu Sakyi III, included several Paramount Chiefs, Queen Mothers, and traditional authorities representing communities across the entire region.

The delegation was accompanied to the meeting by the Minister for Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, Hon. Ahmed Ibrahim, and the Bono East Regional Minister, Hon. Francis Owusu Antwi.

During the high-level engagement, the traditional rulers commended the government for the developmental progress achieved in the region so far.

In response, President Mahama reaffirmed the government’s unwavering commitment to stabilizing and strengthening the national economy.

He emphasised the strategic economic importance of the Bono East Region, pointing specifically to Techiman and its surrounding communities as critical hubs for agriculture, trade, and commerce.

To accelerate growth, President Mahama outlined a series of major, targeted interventions earmarked for execution across the region.

Among the key agricultural and industrial updates, the President announced the construction of a 50,000-tonne cashew processing factory alongside the development of dedicated Farmer Service Centres to boost local agricultural yields.

Furthermore, the President detailed plans for commercial expansion through the establishment of specialized markets operating under the government’s flagship 24-hour economy initiative.

Infrastructure development will also take a central role, with major road projects aimed at improving connectivity between trade centers, alongside advanced plans toward the establishment of a state-of-the-art Regional Hospital for Bono East.

The meeting concluded with a mutual commitment from both the executive and the traditional leadership to ensure the timely realization of these projects for the benefit of the people of Bono East.
