An armed robbery by a five-member gang at the Gomoa Dominase Onion Market in the Central Region’s Gomoa East District has left a mobile money vendor dead and another person critically injured.
Eyewitnesses reported that the attackers stormed the market and discharged more than 20 rounds of live ammunition.
Eyewitness Yussif Mohammed stated that the deceased vendor sustained multiple gunshot wounds to the stomach, neck and back.
He added that traders initially mistook the gunfire for a police operation, which prevented them from approaching the scene immediately.
Following the attack, Ebo Anderson, Chairman of the Gomoa Potsin Neighbourhood Watch Committee, urged the Inspector-General of Police to supply the Gomoa Dominase District Police Command with the necessary logistics to combat local crime effectively.
