The Minister for the Interior, Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, has imposed a dusk-to-dawn curfew on twelve communities within the Nkwanta South Municipality of the Oti Region, effective today, Friday, June 19, 2026.
The directive, issued by Executive Instrument on the advice of the National Security Council, restricts movement between the hours of 5:00 PM and 6:00 AM daily.
The affected areas include Keri, Abrewanko, Abrewanko Junction, Nyambo, Nyambo Junction, Shari, Kromase, Power, Nyakoma, Odomi, Bonakye, and Nkwanta.
A total ban on carrying arms, ammunition, or any offensive weapons has also been instituted across the designated communities.
Security agencies have been instructed to arrest and prosecute any individuals found violating this restriction.
In an official statement signed by the Minister, the government urged traditional chiefs, elders, opinion leaders, and the youth to exercise maximum restraint during this period.
The Ministry underscored the importance of utilising non-violent channels to address current grievances and maintain peace within the municipality.
