A 55-year-old man has been handed a five-year prison sentence with hard labour following a violent assault on his sister in Sefwi Abrokofe, located within the Juaboso District.
The Sefwi Bodi Circuit Court convicted William Gyamfi, also known as Kwasi Manso, after he severely injured 50-year-old Akua Agyeiwaa by stabbing her in the eyes during a dispute on 17 January 2026.
Following his arrest and subsequent trial, presiding Judge James Mensah Donkor found Gyamfi guilty of the offence.
Speaking after the verdict, Juaboso District Police Commander, Superintendent Isaac Otsin, welcomed the decision, noting that the sentence demonstrates the commitment of local law enforcement and the judiciary to upholding justice.
He also warned the public that violent behaviour would not be tolerated and that perpetrators would face the full force of the law.
