Authorities in Nkwatia, located within the Kwahu East District, have detained a 24-year-old welding apprentice for the alleged attempted murder of his younger sibling in a nearby forest.
The suspect, known as Kwadwo, reportedly used a bladed instrument in a violent effort to decapitate his brother.
Local resident Bright Osarfo alerted the community after hearing cries for help emanating from the woodland. Villagers arrived to find the assault in progress and successfully intervened to save the victim.
Following the rescue, the suspect was captured by locals and surrendered to the police.
Unit Committee member Esther Kissiwaa reported that an enraged crowd sought to attack the suspect, necessitating a swift intervention by officers to prevent mob violence.
During this chaotic scene, two other youths sustained injuries and required hospitalisation.
Medical staff at Nkwatia Hospital have confirmed that all involved parties are currently stable and recovering. Police enquiries into the circumstances surrounding the attack remain active.
