The Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC) has issued a public warning against 80 local and international institutions operating without official recognition.

In a public notice released by its Corporate Affairs Directorate, the regulatory body disclosed that these institutions failed to meet essential quality assurance standards.

GTEC urged the public, prospective students, and employers to exercise strict due diligence before engaging with these entities or accepting credentials issued by them.

The extensive blacklist features several institutions operating within Ghana, including the Debest College of Science, Arts and Business; Faith University Seminary; Doxa Open University; and the Electrical and Mechanical Engineering Training School.

Several unaccredited theological and business institutes based in Kumasi and Effiduase were also cited.

Beyond domestic borders, the commission flagged dozens of foreign entities across the United States, Europe, Asia, and other parts of Africa. Notable international listings include Universidad Azteca in Mexico, Atlantic International University and Breyer State Theology University in the United States, the Indian School of Management and Studies, and Swiss Management Centre University in Switzerland.

GTEC emphasised that credentials from these listed institutions are not recognized for academic or professional progression within Ghana, reinforcing its commitment to safeguarding the country’s tertiary education standards.
