The Upper West Regional Police Command has intercepted a commercial vehicle transporting a significant haul of ammunition through an unapproved route outside Wa.
During a thorough search of the vehicle on Monday, 29 June 2026, officers discovered and retrieved 200 boxes of AA cartridges, totaling 50,000 rounds, which had been concealed beneath other goods.
A police statement revealed that three suspects—Alhassan Issahaku, Iddrisu Mashood, and Alhaji Issahaku—were arrested at the scene and are currently assisting with ongoing investigations.

While the suspects remain in custody, law enforcement agencies are actively working to establish the source of the ammunition and apprehend any other individuals involved in the operation.
Following the successful interception, the Regional Police Command commended the professionalism and integrity of the officers involved.
