Two people have been killed and two others injured following a violent confrontation between police officers and local residents in Sefwi Sayerano.
The clash erupted when officers from the Sefwi Wiawso Divisional Police Command entered the community to arrest a suspected drug dealer.
Local reports indicate that a group of residents intervened to block the arrest, sparking a heated standoff.
As the confrontation escalated, police officers allegedly opened fire on the crowd.
Two individuals were pronounced dead at the scene, while two others were rushed to a nearby medical facility with fractures and gunshot wounds.
The deceased have been identified as Papa Kojo Armah and Kobee, who was popularly known as “Nkwagya”.
Meanwhile, further details indicate that there is a third victim whose identity has not yet been confirmed.
Local authorities have yet to issue an official statement regarding the discharge of firearms or the current status of the investigation.
