Angry Students Of Krobo Nursing Training College mass On streets; demand immediate removal of “Autocratic” Principal

July 27, 2026

Students of the Krobo Nursing and Midwifery Training College, situated in the Techiman North District of the Bono East Region, have staged a massive street protest to demand the prompt dismissal of their principal, Mrs. Ellen Dwamena.

The aggrieved trainees have accused the school administrator of high-handedness, autocratic leadership, and a complete lack of regard for student welfare.

A primary grievance triggering the agitation centres on double billing and unjustified financial burdens. According to the student body, charges for basic utilities are surreptitiously levied on them a second time upon arrival on campus, despite having already settled those exact costs within their tuition fees.

They further revealed that sanitation expenses, which ought to be covered by the school administration as part of the official fee structure, are routinely forced onto the students to handle and finance independently.

The situation on campus is reportedly compounded by severe operational failures. Trainees lamented persistent water shortages and frequent power outages that severely disrupt their academic activities and daily living conditions.

The feeding arrangements have similarly deteriorated into a major crisis.

The students disclosed that the standard three-meal daily provision has been drastically cut to a single meal, with breakfast entirely scrapped.

To make matters worse, meals are served at outrageously late hours, with lunch arriving well past 3:00 PM or 4:00 PM, while dinner is routinely pushed back to 9:00 PM.

Beyond domestic hardships, the protesters highlighted deep-seated academic grievances.

They raised concerns over their forced involvement in clinical duties without adequate institutional backing, alongside the academic board’s refusal to grant them access to their online student portals.

Speaking in an interview on Nyankonton Mu Nsem on Rainbow Radio 87.5FM, SRC President Muntari Fatawu claimed that, trainees remain completely in the dark regarding their academic performance and examination results.

According ro him, demotions have become the order of the day, leaving many penalized without ever seeing their actual grades.

In light of these escalating issues, the student body is making an urgent appeal to the Ministry of Health and relevant institutional authorities to intervene without delay and relieve Mrs. Ellen Dwamena of her position as principal to restore order and fairness to the institution.
