Funeral arrangements for the late Apostle Kwadwo Safo Kantanka, the renowned inventor, spiritual leader, and founder of the Kristo Asafo Mission, have commenced today despite a High Court order halting the proceedings.

An Accra High Court, presided over by Justice Klorkor Okai-Mills, issued a ten-day interim injunction restraining former Member of Parliament Sarah Adwoa Safo, her agents, and assigns from proceeding with any funeral activities scheduled for 30th and 31st July 2026.

The legal action (Suit No. GJ/0978/2026) was initiated by Abusuapanyin Adomako Nyantakyi on behalf of the Essumeja Aduana Kotoko Royal Family, supported by an affidavit from Nana Kwadwo Safo Akofena and argued by counsel Prof. Kwame Gyan, Esq.

Despite the court order, final rites are currently underway, highlighting severe factionalism within the family over how and when the late leader should be laid to rest.

The rift pits Adwoa Safo, who recently survived a shooting incident, against other primary stakeholders in the family and church hierarchy.

Adwoa Safo has granted a series of media interviews maintaining that the funeral currently taking place was directly sanctioned by the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.

Conversely, the deceased’s son, Kwadwo Safo Kantanka Jr., has publicly disowned the event.

He advised church members and well-wishers to abstain from attending, stating that neither the main family nor the leadership of the Kristo Asafo Mission approved the gathering.
