A delegation from the Volta Regional House of Chiefs, led by its President, Togbe Tepre Hodo IV, paid a courtesy call on the Minister for Foreign Affairs, Hon. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, at the Ministry in Accra on Wednesday.

The visit by the traditional leaders was aimed at extending warm congratulations to the Minister on his recent birthday and his appointment to the foreign affairs portfolio, while strengthening working relations between the traditional authority of the Volta Region and the Ministry.

Speaking on behalf of the delegation, Togbe Tepre Hodo IV, who is also the Paramount Chief of the Anfoega Traditional Area, expressed profound appreciation for the warm reception accorded to them. He commended Hon. Ablakwa for his dedicated service to Ghana, as well as his steadfast commitment to the development of his constituency and the broader Volta Region.

Togbe Tepre Hodo IV noted that while the region had for many years faced challenges in securing its fair share of national resources and development opportunities, significant improvements have been recorded in recent times. He attributed these positive changes to the Minister’s sustained drive and dedication to ensuring that the region’s concerns receive due national attention.

The President of the House of Chiefs further praised Hon. Ablakwa for maintaining strong ties with his roots despite his demanding national responsibilities, encouraging him to continue championing the interests of the Volta Region alongside his national duties.

In response, Hon. Okudzeto Ablakwa expressed his gratitude to the traditional leaders for the honour, noting that he was deeply touched that they had travelled to Accra to visit him. He revealed that he had initially intended to visit the House of Chiefs in the region himself, an offer the traditional rulers had respectfully declined in favour of visiting his official workplace.

Describing the visit as a great privilege, the Foreign Affairs Minister reassured the delegation of his commitment to serving both the Volta Region and the wider nation.
