According to a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the passenger’s health deteriorated rapidly shortly before the aircraft landed in the capital.

“Reports by other passengers indicate that the deceased’s health condition began to deteriorate about 30 minutes to touch down in Accra,” the Ministry disclosed.

A medical emergency team stationed at the airport immediately attended to the passenger upon arrival at 5:50 pm. Despite intensive resuscitation efforts at the airport’s Emergency Medical Reception, doctors confirmed him dead at 6:55 pm.

The Ministry expressed deep sorrow over the incident and confirmed that steps are underway to notify the family while investigations into the cause of death begin.

“The Ministry is undertaking the formalities of informing the family of the deceased and has arranged for the deposit of the remains at the Police Hospital for autopsy,” the statement added.

Officials assured the public that further updates will be released following formal engagements with the bereaved family.
