The Member of Parliament for Jomoro and Deputy Transport Minister, Dorcas Affo-Toffey, has provided practical skills training to more than 300 young men and women across the constituency.
Designed to foster economic empowerment and build sustainable livelihoods, the initiative primarily targeted young women, offering hands-on instruction in soap making, agriculture, and agribusiness to help them establish self-reliant enterprises.

To ensure the training transitions into immediate economic activity, all participants were equipped with start-up kits and resources upon completion.
This support aims to reduce youth unemployment and stimulate small-scale entrepreneurship throughout Jomoro by enabling beneficiaries to launch income-generating ventures that uplift both themselves and their families.

Godwin Alluekeh, Personal Assistant to Madam Affo-Toffey, supervised the sessions on behalf of the MP and outlined the scope of the workshop.

“We are here today to commence a three-day skill training programme organised by Hon. Dorcas Affo-Toffey and the Ghana Enterprise Agency for the youth of Jomoro,” Mr. Alluekeh noted. “This training is designed to provide skills in agriculture and agribusiness for the youth and also help to improve the living standards of the youth.”

He further detailed the specific focus areas of the sessions, adding, “The training is in four sections. Fruit juice processing, fish farming and fish processing, livestock farming and cereal processing.”

Confirming the long-term commitment to the trainees, Mr. Alluekeh assured that “After the training each beneficiary or trainee will be given startup items and capital.”

The beneficiaries expressed deep gratitude for the intervention, highlighting that the combined training and start-up support offer a genuine path toward enhanced skills and improved quality of life.
