The Member of Parliament for Upper West Akim, Hon. Emmanuel Drah, has addressed growing concerns among the youth and residents of Adeiso regarding the delayed commissioning of the Kotoko Juice Factory. The facility, which has remained idle for years, was promised by the government as a key driver of local employment and economic growth for the area.

Speaking on Rainbow Radio’s flagship current affairs program, Nyankonton Mu Nsem, the lawmaker explained that the factory was originally constructed in 2016 during the administration of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) but was subsequently abandoned by the previous government.

While acknowledging the operational and infrastructural hurdles currently stalling the facility, Hon. Drah urged community members to remain calm, reassuring them that intensive efforts are underway to resolve these bottlenecks and kickstart production as promised.

Hon. Drah recalled that the current administration pledged to operationalise the factory during its election campaign. He expressed firm confidence that the commitment would be fulfilled, noting that the President’s track record of delivering on key promises should reassure the people of Adeiso that the facility will not be left to rot.

Understanding the frustration within the community, the MP emphasized that he is fully aware of how passionate the local youth are about seeing the factory opened. He pledged to use his office to continuously push relevant state agencies and stakeholders until the promise made to his constituents is fully honored.

Once active, the Kotoko Juice Factory is expected to manufacture a diverse line of fruit juice products, leveraging locally harvested raw materials. Hon. Drah highlighted that the activation of the facility will generate direct and indirect jobs, significantly lowering unemployment rates among ynoung people within Adeiso and across the broader Upper West Akim constituency.
