National Anti-Illegal Mining Operations Secretariat (NAIMOS) task forces have apprehended nine personnel from the Blue Water Guards (BWG) at Manso Adubia within the Ashanti Region for supposedly extorting money and unlawfully posing as NAIMOS agents.
The arrest of the suspects took place on Friday, August 21, 2026.
The accused individuals face claims of accepting illegal payments while falsely presenting themselves as official representatives of NAIMOS, actions that leadership characterized as disgraceful and detrimental to the credibility of the anti-illegal mining crusade.
An official directive issued by leadership clarified that Blue Water Guards possess no authorization to conduct field operations or pass off as NAIMOS field agents, emphasizing that any individual caught engaging in these unlawful acts will face full prosecution under the law.
“All guards are hereby cautioned to desist from such acts and remain professional. No BWG is authorised to act as NAIMOS,” the notice stated.
