Twenty-six suspects have been brought before the courts following investigations into election-related killings across the country, the Minister of the Interior, Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, has revealed.
Addressing the media at the government’s Accountability Series on Monday, August 24, 2026, the Minister stated that one suspect has since been discharged, leaving twenty-five individuals currently standing trial.
He further disclosed that law enforcement agencies are actively pursuing thirteen other suspects who remain at large, aiming to secure their arrest, complete investigations, and ensure their swift prosecution.
The Minister reiterated the government’s resolve to uphold the rule of law and ensure that every individual implicated in electoral violence faces the full rigor of the justice system.
