Efforts to build a modern, efficient, and globally competitive aviation sector in Ghana have taken a major leap forward, according to Deputy Minister for Transport Dorcas Affo-Toffey.
Speaking at the sod-cutting ceremony for a new multi-purpose infrastructure project at the Accra International Airport, the Deputy Minister highlighted that the initiative directly aligns with the government’s 24-Hour Economy agenda.
By driving continuous job creation, stimulating private investment, and expanding economic opportunities around the airport enclave, the development is designed to serve as both an infrastructure upgrade and a catalyst for multi-sector growth across hospitality, transport, retail, and related services.
The sod-cutting event was led by President John Dramani Mahama, alongside Minister for Transport Joseph Bukari Nikpe and Deputy Minister Dorcas Affo-Toffey.
The flagship development features a multi-tiered car park with a capacity exceeding 2,000 vehicles, integrated alongside an on-site hotel complex.
Once completed, the project will ease operational bottlenecking, provide essential parking capacity, and elevate the overall passenger experience at Ghana’s main international gateway.
Government officials emphasized that projects of this scale are essential to expanding the country’s aviation capacity, modernizing national infrastructure, and firmly establishing Accra as a premier aviation and connectivity hub in the West African subregion.
