The Deputy Minister for Transport, Dorcas Affo-Toffey, has underscored the importance of stronger air connectivity between Ghana and other African countries to the growth of trade, business, and regional integration.

She said the relaunch of Africa World Airlines’ Accra–Abidjan route will help deepen economic ties between Ghana and Côte d’Ivoire while creating greater opportunities for businesses and travellers.

Madam Affo-Toffey made the remarks in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire, where she represented the Minister for Transport at the relaunch of the airline’s Accra–Abidjan route.

According to her, the restoration of the route is strategically important to Ghana’s efforts to position itself as a leading aviation hub on the continent.

She explained that improved air connectivity would facilitate the movement of people and goods, strengthen business relationships, and support the objectives of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).

The Deputy Transport Minister, who is also the Member of Parliament for Jomoro in the Western Region, noted that routes linking Ghana to other African destinations were critical to advancing regional integration and expanding intra-African trade.

She said improved connectivity would also make it easier for businesses and travellers to access opportunities across the continent.

Madam Affo-Toffey commended Africa World Airlines for its continued contribution to connecting Ghana with other African countries and for supporting the growth of intra-African travel and trade.

She expressed confidence that the relaunch of the Accra–Abidjan route would further strengthen relations between the two countries and contribute to increased commercial and people-to-people exchanges.

She stressed that the development of Ghana’s aviation sector remained an important component of the government’s broader vision of making the country a major aviation hub in Africa.

The Deputy Minister described the relaunch not merely as the restoration of a flight connection, but as an important bridge between the economies, businesses, and people of Ghana and Côte d’Ivoire.

The Accra–Abidjan route is expected to provide travellers and businesses with another convenient air link between the two West African countries while supporting the broader goal of enhanced regional connectivity.
