Officers from the Ghana Police Service have taken 32-year-old Salted Abraham Awundo into custody for his alleged role in the brutal killing of Dr. Jesse Amoah and his spouse, Mrs. Elizabeth Amoah, following their disappearance in April 2026.
Detectives probing the disappearance uncovered evidence pointing to a foul crime, prompting thorough searches of the couple’s residence and several spots they had visited.
Acting on crucial details supplied by family members, law enforcement officers recovered the mortal remains of the deceased pair.
The bodies have since been transferred to the Police Hospital mortuary for autopsy and preservation.
Briefing journalists, the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Christian Tetteh Yohuno, disclosed that detailed investigations placed the suspect—who served as a casual domestic helper for the victims—at their home shortly before they went missing.
The suspect allegedly seized their personal belongings, including mobile phones, cash, and their saloon car, before fleeing the country for the United Arab Emirates.
His escape triggered an international manhunt through an INTERPOL Red Notice, which ultimately led to his tracking and apprehension.
IGP Yohuno added that the stolen vehicle has been retrieved by security agencies, while Awundo remains in police custody as investigations continue.
