The Prosecution in the trial of former National Signals Bureau (NSB) chief Kwabena Adu Boahene, his wife Angela Adjei Boateng, and their firm Advantage Solutions, has closed its case after completing the cross-examination of its fourth and final witness.
The closure marks the end of the State’s evidence presentation aimed at substantiating 11 financial charges against the accused. The three stand trial over the alleged theft of GH¢49.1 million allocated for procuring cyber defence software for the State.
Four witnesses testified for the Prosecution during the trial.
Frank Anane Dekpey, a driver to the first accused, testified to running cash errands on his employer’s instructions, which included moving money in bulk bags for deposits and withdrawals.
Ruby Adumoah Opoku, Head of Finance at the NSB, detailed the transfer of the GH¢49.1 million from the bureau’s account into an unauthorised third-party account.
A third witness told the court she operated a company created by the accused to move funds, relying on pre-signed cheques issued by the couple.
The fourth witness outlined the structure of the account used to divert the money, revealed private expenditures identified during investigations, and challenged the authenticity of a document claiming to confirm the software purchase.
Following the close of the Prosecution’s case, defence counsel indicated an intention to file a submission of no case.
The court granted the defence two weeks, until 25 September, to file the application.
The Prosecution has been given two weeks to respond upon being served.
The court adjourned to 5 November 2026 to deliver its ruling on whether the Prosecution has established a sufficient case to require the accused persons to open their defence.
