No fresh recruitment into security services in 2027 – Interior Minister

MUNTAKA MUBARAK

The government has taken a firm decision to suspend new recruitment applications into the country’s security agencies for the 2027 calendar year.

The Minister for the Interior, Mohammed Muntaka Mubarak, made the announcement, explaining that state authorities are directing their complete focus toward clearing a lingering backlog of qualified candidates who are yet to be enlisted.

Addressing members of Parliament’s Public Accounts Committee on Tuesday, October 20, the Minister noted that the move forms part of explicit instructions issued by President John Dramani Mahama.

According to him, the state intends to give priority to individuals who have successfully completed every stage of the recruitment process and satisfied all requirements, but could not be admitted into training facilities due to severe infrastructural constraints.

Mr Muntaka confirmed that the portal for new applicants will remain closed throughout next year.

“Next year, there will be no new applicants. We are not going to open the portal based on the President’s instructions. We are not going to open the portal for fresh applications.

“Those who have already applied, gone through and passed the process and qualified to have gone for training but space didn’t allow are the ones we will pick.

“We will keep picking from the list until we exhaust it before another application will be allowed.”

The policy directive is expected to bring relief to thousands of prospective recruits who have spent months on waiting lists after completing their selection procedures.
