The Deputy National Director of Elections and IT for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Tanko Rashid Computer, has commended aspirants and delegates in the Bimbilla constituency following a peaceful and orderly constituency election.

Speaking to journalists after the exercise, Mr. Tanko praised both the newly elected leadership and outgoing executives for their concerted efforts in organizing a seamless, incident-free electoral process.

“It’s been a great day. I must say I wish to congratulate the good people of Bimbilla constituency, especially the newly elected executive and then the former executive. They did very well by organizing this peaceful election,” he said.

He explained that despite having just returned to the country from abroad, he felt compelled to travel directly to the constituency to observe the proceedings due to his strong anticipation of a successful outcome.

“When I arrived from abroad this morning I indicated I have to try and come down because I knew they were going to have a very fruitful election and they did it so wonderful. Very peaceful, no incident,” he added.

Highlighting the sportsmanship demonstrated across the contest, Mr. Tanko expressed satisfaction with how candidates conducted themselves, noting that winners celebrated modestly while unsuccessful aspirants accepted the results with maturity.

“The victors were congratulated, those who lost accepted the defeat graciously. That’s the nature. We’ve already spoken about it before today, so we knew that today either you win or you lose. The winners are so happy, the losers too have taken it in good faith,” he said.

Looking ahead to future national elections, he urged all party members to rally behind the newly constituted executive committee. He emphasised that the successful outcome of the constituency polls marks the beginning of the NDC’s strategy to capture the Bimbilla parliamentary seat in the 2028 general elections.

“This is the starting point of annexing the seat in 2028. You can see the formidable executive being elected, a blend of youth and adults, very focused,” he stated.

Sending a clear signal to political opponents, the NDC elections executive expressed firm confidence in the newly assembled team’s ability to deliver victory for the party.

“I can assure you that NPP should prepare for us. We are coming in full force. 2028, Bimbilla will be one of the victory constituencies that the NDC is going to be counting,” Mr. Tanko declared.
