Aspiring National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Edwin Nii Lante Vanderpuye, has lauded party faithful for ensuring a calm and peaceful atmosphere throughout the newly concluded Okaikwei South constituency executive elections.

Monitoring the voting exercise across various polling centers in Accra, the veteran politician noted his satisfaction with how delegates and organizers handled the process, likening the environment to a unified family gathering.

Reflecting on his tour of the constituencies, Mr. Vanderpuye observed: “First let me thank God that so far we’ve had good weather the whole of Accra and things are going similarly. This is my third constituency visit. I’ve been to… I passed through and I’m here and so far everything is… we show you a family atmosphere.”

Addressing brief moments of tension that cropped up during the polls, the NDC stalwart minimised their impact, explaining that disagreements are natural within any group and emphasizing that disputes were quickly extinguished.

“As a human society, you may have one or two misunderstandings here and there but it has not turned into anything at all. All those misunderstandings have been resolved between the people and I’m happy that everything has been successful,” he stated.

With the electoral process drawing to a close, Mr. Vanderpuye expressed firm optimism about a seamless conclusion and urged members to rally together behind a single agenda ahead of the next national elections.

“We have just about a couple of hours to end the proceedings and then counting will be done. Nothing will happen and then we shall end this successfully and winners and losers shall all celebrate together and then unite to build a better NDC for the election 2028,” he added.
