The former Member of Parliament for Upper West Akim in the Eastern Region, Frederick Obeng Adom, has expressed optimism about snatching the seat back from the current MP, Emmanuel Drah.
Speaking on Nyankonton Mu Nsem on Rainbow Radio 87.5FM, Mr Adom accused the incumbent MP of deceiving constituents and failing to deliver on his campaign promises. According to him, residents in the constituency regret voting for the MP and intend to use the 2028 general elections to vote him back into office.
He noted that he boasts a superior track record from his tenure as MP and is confident of emerging victorious in the 2028 elections.
Mr Adom further accused the incumbent MP of falsely taking credit for the establishment of Kasapreko Company Limited in the constituency. He explained that he and the former District Chief Executive, Eugene Sackey, personally secured the land at Yaw Kwasi Junction between 2023 and 2024 to facilitate Kasapreko’s investment, alongside bringing two foreign manufacturing firms to Okurase.
He also indicated that Hon. Emmanuel Drah and the NDC have failed to revive the abandoned Adeiso Juice Factory under the three-shift employment model they had promised.
According to Mr Adom, the incumbent MP ought to speak the truth regarding developmental initiatives, including electrification projects that were 70 percent complete before he lost the seat. He stated that the MP must recognise and appreciate him for laying the foundation that made it easier to take credit for these projects, adding that work on them has since stalled.
He promised to actively engage with the youth and constituents, address their concerns, and work closely with party members and stakeholders to implement impactful strategies.
Hon. Frederick Obeng Adom stated, “The constituents have realised the deception, and in response to their persistent calls, I am fully prepared to return and reclaim the seat in 2028 to restore genuine progress to Upper West Akim.”
He added that the MP should focus on bringing real development to the constituency, particularly job creation for the unemployed youth.
“The MP has not been accountable to his campaign promises to the people and does not deserve to be MP. I have a solid track record. I did my best for years and was voted out, but from what Hon. Drah is doing, it shows clearly that we will win back the seat. We want to win back the seat to restore the pride of the constituency,” he said.
