The Ghana Police Service has arrested 47-year-old Beatrice Mumuni in connection with the murder of George Atuguba, 57, and his 47-year-old niece, Irene Atuguba, at the NTHC Estate in Sakumono.
Police have simultaneously declared the prime suspect, Samuel Christopher Osei Anto, wanted to assist with ongoing investigations into the double homicide and placed a GH¢100,000 bounty on his head.
Officers from the Sakumono District Police Command rushed to the crime scene on Friday, 30th October 2026, after receiving reports of the incident, where they discovered both victims lying in pools of blood. Although they were quickly transported to the hospital, a medical officer declared them dead upon arrival. Their remains have since been deposited at the Police Hospital Mortuary for preservation and autopsy.
Preliminary investigations by the Baatsona Divisional Police Command indicate that the fatal incident stemmed from a financial dispute involving an unrefunded GH¢500,000 loan.
According to an official statement signed by the Head of Public Affairs for the Accra Region, Chief Superintendent Juliana Obeng, the prime suspect reportedly visited the victims’ house alongside Beatrice Mumuni to demand repayment.
“Preliminary investigations indicate that the incident may have been triggered by a financial dispute involving the deceased, George Atuguba, who had allegedly borrowed GH¢500,000.00 from the suspect but failed to repay the amount. On the morning of the incident, suspect Samuel Christopher Osei Anto reportedly went to the deceased’s residence with a woman identified as Beatrice Mumuni to demand repayment. A misunderstanding allegedly ensued, during which the suspect shot and killed George Atuguba and his niece, Irene Atuguba,” the police statement disclosed.
Investigators believe Beatrice Mumuni guided the key suspect to the victims’ home prior to the fatal shooting.
The Accra Regional Police Command has assured the public that exhaustive measures are underway to apprehend the fleeing suspect and bring him to justice.
Police authorities have placed a GH¢100,000 reward for any credible information leading to the arrest of Samuel Christopher Osei Anto, urging members of the public with relevant details to contact the nearest police station or call emergency lines 191 or 18555.
