Ghana Security Agencies deliberately allowed Syrian cocaine trafficker to depart for Lebanon – Analyst

November 2, 2026
Kumadoe

Security analyst Richard Kumadoe has revealed that Ghanaian security agencies intentionally permitted a Syrian passenger carrying 46.7 kilogrammes of cocaine to depart the Kotoka International Airport for Lebanon as part of a high-stakes intelligence operation.

According to him, the suspect’s departure was not a security lapse but a calculated “controlled delivery” operation designed to trace and apprehend other high-profile members of the international drug syndicate.

His comments come on the back of public outrage following the arrest of a passenger, identified only as B.H., at the Rafic Hariri International Airport in Beirut.

Lebanese Customs officials intercepted the suspect after he arrived aboard a Middle East Airlines flight from Accra, discovering 40 packages of cocaine concealed inside his luggage.

Addressing the growing public disappointment over how such a massive quantity of illicit drugs could leave Accra undetected, Mr Kumadoe clarified that law enforcement agencies in both nations were fully in sync throughout the process.

Speaking to host Kwabena Agyapong on Rainbow Radio’s flagship morning show, Frontline, the security expert explained that Ghana and Lebanese authorities jointly evaluated which jurisdiction held a stronger strategic interest in monitoring the suspect. It was ultimately decided that letting the traveler proceed under close watch offered the best chance of breaking the wider syndicate.

“It was a controlled delivery with a tip-off. Ghana and Lebanese authorities decided on which country has a higher interest in releasing the substance and the individual, and it was decided that we needed to send him away without concern,” Mr Kumadoe stated.

He further disclosed that the Syrian national was under intense surveillance from the exact moment he arrived in Ghana until his departure, with every aspect of his movement meticulously tracked and documented by security operatives.

Dismissing claims that airport security had been compromised, Mr Kumadoe commended the state-of-the-art screening equipment recently installed at the Kotoka International Airport, noting that the technology is advanced enough to inspect human bones.

He reiterated that with the current security infrastructure in place, it was impossible for such a shipment to pass through unnoticed, reassuring the public that the operation was engineered specifically to unmask accomplices operating within Ghana and across the broader West African sub-region.
