The Ghana Police Service has officially launched its automated traffic law enforcement initiative, dubbed “Traffitech-GH,” following its implementation on November 1, 2026.
Operating under the Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD), the system is designed to automate the detection, documentation, and enforcement of road traffic regulations across the country.
“The Ghana Police Service wishes to inform the general public that the Traffitech-GH project, which aims to automate the enforcement of road traffic laws and regulations in Ghana, officially took effect on November 1, 2026,” the police statement signed by Deputy Commissioner of Police Grace Ansah-Akrofi read.
Motorists are advised to verify all official notifications to avoid falling victim to fraudulent schemes. Authentic violation notices will originate exclusively from the official Sender ID “GPS-MTTD” and will not be dispatched from standard mobile numbers.
“Genuine traffic violation notifications will not be sent from an ordinary mobile phone number,” the statement noted.
Upon receiving an Electronic Notice of Violation (ENV) or ticket, vehicle owners should inspect the provided vehicle photograph, license plate details, location, date, and time, as well as any attached video footage.
Payments must be processed strictly through authorized channels. Fines can be paid via the NIB Payment Portal at https://traffitech-ghpay.nib.com.gh by selecting “Make Payment” and entering the ticket number. Alternatively, motorists can utilize the USSD code 7100# and follow the prompts using their ticket number.
The police administration cautioned against unverified payment demands, emphasizing that traffic fines should never be transferred to personal mobile money numbers or unofficial accounts.
Members of the public requiring assistance or further clarification can contact the police helpline on 059 692 2402.
