The Ghana Health Service (GHS) has announced that all prospective travellers arriving in the country will be required to complete a Mandatory Health Declaration Form prior to departure, effective Thursday, 12th November 2026.
The new directive follows a recent policy announcement by the Minister of Health aimed at reinforcing the nation’s border health controls and safeguarding public health.
According to an official press release signed by the Director General of the Ghana Health Service, Dr. Samuel Kaba Akoriyea, the measure applies broadly to all inbound passengers, airlines, and travel operators.
Passengers travelling to Ghana are required to complete and submit the official digital declaration online via https://ehds.ghs.gov.gh/declaration before embarking on their journeys.
Explaining the rationale behind the directive, the GHS stated that the mechanism is designed to strengthen national health monitoring mechanisms.
“The measure is intended to strengthen Ghana’s public health surveillance and preparedness systems, enhance the monitoring of potential public health risks, and safeguard the health and well-being of both residents and visitors,” the statement read.
The Service has urged travellers to ensure full compliance before boarding, while appealing to international carriers and industry partners to assist in disseminating the information to prevent travel disruptions.
“All travellers are therefore strongly advised to ensure that they complete and submit the required Health Declaration Form prior to departure. Airlines and other relevant stakeholders are also encouraged to bring this requirement to the attention of passengers and ensure that travellers are adequately informed ahead of their journeys,” the release highlighted.
The GHS expressed appreciation to the traveling public and commercial partners for their cooperation as the health authority moves to facilitate seamless entry procedures while protecting national health security.
