The Concerned Members of Chiraa, who have come together to form a new association called Chiraa My Home (CMH) in the Sunyani West Municipality of the Bono Region, have initiated a Street Lighting Project.

The initiative is to help beautify the Chiraa township.

The project, which was self-funded through member donations, has significantly reduced the darkness the town was experiencing.

Contributions were drawn from citizens of Chiraa both at home and abroad, especially those in Accra, Kumasi, Sunyani, the UK, Germany, Italy, France, and across the world.

The association has also extended gratitude to all those who have supported the initiative since it was launched.

It has also asked other institutions in Chiraa, both home and abroad, to support the initiative.
One of the members of the group, Kwesi Korang, told Rainbowradioonline.com that they need more than 350 streetlights to make the initiative successful.

He revealed that they have already fixed about 80 lights, which were through donations, and another 50 lights, which were yet to be fixed, were donated by some Chiraa institutions based in the United Kingdom.

“We need support from the people of Chiraa, who are both home and broad. Wherever you find yourself, if you are from Chiraa, we are appealing to you to support the initiative. We have fixed about 80 lights already. We have also received 50 from those in the UK. We have yet to fix those ones. We need over 350 lights,” he said.

The Chief of Chiraa, Berima Mintah Afari II, has commended the association members for their bold decision to bring about change in the Chiraa community, particularly in addressing the street lighting situation.

He therefore encouraged the members to continue their good work to further progress the town.
