Political analyst Mr. Samuel Boateng has described the manifesto promises highlighted by Vice Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia as too recycled promises, which our political leaders have failed to deliver over the years.
These promises, he argued, have been repeated throughout the years, but when our leaders have the opportunity to rule, they fail to deliver on them.
Speaking on Nyankonton Mu Nsem on Rainbow Radio 87.5FM, the saddest part is that our political leaders know our problems or challenges confronting the country, but they lack the political will to address them.
“Our political leaders know the challenges confronting the country and are aware of the solutions that can help in resolving these challenges. But they are not prepared to resolve these challenges with the known solutions. The other point that is troubling is that when they assume office, they refuse to be effective leaders, and so our problems are now being recycled every election year,” he explained.
He added that “we keep hearing more promises that the leaders keep failing to achieve. The leaders have also demonstrated that the manifestos they launch do not have any value.
They don’t demonstrate any preparedness to implement these promises in their own party manifestos.”
He also stated that Dr. Bawumia cannot exempt himself from the government’s failures, especially as he frequently praises his role in the administration’s positive achievements.
Mr. Boateng believes that as Chair of the Econimic Management Team, he has a responsibility to support the president to achieve economic stability, and if things do not go as planned, he has to accept responsibility and blame himself for the challenges.
He maintained that the promises by Dr. Bawumia at the manifesto launch were too many and would not be achieved in four years.
He suggested that it would have been prudent for the Vice President to have identified the various policies and initiatives that have not been well implemented so he could work on them and make them better.
He wondered why the Vice President failed to even touch on the planting for food and jobs and other policies of the NPP, affirming that these policies have failed.
