The Electoral Commission has announced that the accreditations for the media to cover the collation of results at the constituency and regional collation centres have been increased to 4,500.
Chairperson Madam Jean Mensa disclosed this at a press conference on Friday, November 29, 2024.
She announced that the EC will issue the 4,500 accreditation cards to the leadership of the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) and the Ghana Independent Broadcaster Association (GIBA) by Sunday evening.
According to her, the allocation and distribution of the 4,500 accreditation cards shall be done by the GJA and GIBA.
She stated that the electoral body will not play any role in the allocation and distribution of the cards.
Madam Mensa posited to the Commission that the EC remains committed to working with the media before, during, and after the December General Election.
She added that in spite of the space limitation at some constituencies and regional collaboration centres, the accreditation for the media would be increased from 3,308 to 4,500.
