Mahama’s ‘tot-tot-tot-tot’ appointment is unacceptable – Minority

January 9, 2025
afenyo

Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin has taken a swipe at President John Dramani Mahama over what he refers to as delays in his naming his appointees.

The lawmaker believes that as a president who was prepared to govern, he should be prepared to name his appointees.

His remarks came after the Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin, announced the President’s nomination of three minister-designates for vetting by the Appointments Committee.

Reacting to this, the minority leader noted that for President Mahama, who has promised to roll out the 24-hour policy, he should be prepared with a comprehensive list of ministerial appointments ready, rather than making piecemeal nominations.

“When the names were read out by Mr. Speaker, he read out only three names. The Finance Minister Designate, the Energy Minister Designate, the Attorney General, and the Minister of Justice Designate.

“Mr. Speaker, this ‘tot-tot-tot-tot’ appointment is unacceptable. Mr. Speaker, this is a government that promised a 24-hour economy in opposition. They told us they were ready for government,” he said.

President Mahama has today, Thursday, January 9, 2025, nominated Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson as finance minister-designate, John Abdulai Jinapor as energy minister-designate, and Dominic Akuritinga Ayine as attorney general and minister of justice-designate.
