‘We’ve to blame Prez Mahama for the lawless raids of the homes of former appointees’ – Analyst

Security analyst Mr. Andrews Asiedu Tetteh has criticised President John Dramani Mahama regarding the recent raid of the homes of former appointees of former President Akufo-Addo.

The analyst asserts that these raids and destruction of property by security operatives are not only lawless but also an abuse of power and the rights of the affected persons.

Speaking on Nyankonton Mu Nsem on Rainbow Radio 87.5FM, Mr. Andrews Asiedu Tetteh emphasized that there are procedures and processes involved in conducting lawful searches, and the government must adhere to them.

He noted that wielding power should not serve as a means to abuse the rights of individuals.

The security analyst stated that this way of conducting searches and going after former appointees has been a major problem for government after government, and it is time to put an end to it immediately.

“Are you suggesting that President Mahama is unaware of these raids? I am saying that our governments are not concerned about our security. Are you suggesting that the president is unaware of this? Similar incidents occurred under former President Akufo-Addo; no action was taken. The same thing is now happening under President Mahama, and no action is being taken. When are we going to address these issues?

There are processes involved in investigating people suspected of any crime. You do not raid their homes without a warrant, accompanied by armed police and military personnel who destroy property and steal valuables from the homes of former appointees. This is not right. Can we not be orderly for once? What is happening is unfortunate, and it demonstrates that President Mahama is not concerned about the security and safety of Ghana. He and his security ministers are only interested in public displays.

Imagine how it appears when armed security operatives storm your residence without a warrant and the harm it may cause to your family. Nobody has the right to raid your house without a warrant. When that happens, you have every right to defend yourself. What is happening is unacceptable, and the president should take action because if he does not, some of us are willing to conclude that he is not interested in the safety and security of Ghanaians.”
