Kwabena Aseidu, a 45-year-old farmer, has been apprehended by the Bibiani District Police Commander for allegedly attacking his 18-year-old daughter at Sefwi Tanoso Praso in the Western North Region’s Bibiani Anhwiaso Bekwai Municipality.
The suspect reportedly assaulted his daughter upon discovering she was pregnant.
According to the victim (names witheld) who spoke to Nyankonton mu Nsem on Rainbow Radio 87.5FM, the incident occurred when her father confronted her about her pregnancy after she visited a friend.
Upon confirming her condition, the father’s agitation led him to allegedly wield a kitchen knife, pursue her into her friend’s bedroom, and slash her repeatedly until she lost consciousness.
When the victim regained consciousness, she found herself admitted to the Bibiani Government Hospital surrounded by medical professionals.
Teacher Isaac, a committee member of the Sefwi Tanoso Praso Electoral Area Unit, described the incident as shocking, highlighting concerns about domestic violence, and noted that the suspect was later arrested after fleeing the scene.
The police are currently investigating the matter, with Teacher Isaac expressing hope that Kwabena Aseidu would face prosecution for his alleged actions.
