He benoaned the challenges faced by persons with disabilities, including inaccessible infrastructure, stigma, limited education and employment opportunities, and inadequate healthcare.

Dr. Apaak acknowledged the crucial role of the Parliamentary Caucus on Disability in raising awareness, supporting legislation, and engaging stakeholders.

He praised the Ghana Federation of Disability Organisations for advocating for the rights of persons with disabilities.

Dr. Apaak noted that the current government has implemented several initiatives to promote inclusive education, including a new mathematics curriculum for the visually impaired, a sign language curriculum, free tertiary education for persons with disabilities, and a 5% employment quota in partnership with the private sector.

He concluded by urging Parliament to lead by example and officially adopt June 23rd as a National Day for Persons with Disabilities.
