We will pursue DNA and legal action – Father of missing but found baby

Agyemang Mohammed, the father of the newborn recently stolen and recovered from Mamprobi Hospital, has stated that while the family is overjoyed by the infant’s return, they are insisting on a DNA test and pursuing legal action.

Speaking on Nyankonton Mu Nsem on Rainbow Radio 87.5FM, Mr Mohammed shared that the family is relieved but adamant that the matter must not end with the baby’s return.

He confirmed that the reports circulating on social media are accurate: his son was indeed stolen from the hospital but has since been found.

Though the baby has a distinct birthmark that identifies him as their son, Mr Mohammed noted that he and his wife have agreed to a DNA test to officially and scientifically confirm the child’s identity.

Mr Mohammed clarified that neither he nor his wife had ever met the suspect before the incident.

Despite accompanying his wife to all antenatal check-ups, he had never seen the woman at the facility.

The suspect arrived at the hospital only on the night of the theft, despite not being pregnant herself.

She reportedly dressed as a nurse to blend in with the medical staff, allegedly gaining access to the room by pretending to be a healthcare worker responsible for administering medicine to the babies.

The family plans to initiate legal action against the suspect by Thursday or Friday.

Mr Mohammed stressed that despite the emotional turmoil, his family did not attempt to harm or retaliate against the suspect when she was apprehended.

He expressed deep gratitude to the Minister of Gender, Children, and Social Protection, Hon. Naa Momo Lartey, who visited to console the family.

The minister donated nappies and an undisclosed amount of money to support the newborn’s care.

Mr Mohammed concluded by confirming that his baby boy is doing well and thanked the public for their interest in the case.
