Publish all the details regarding ‘Big Push’ Contracts – Minority

The minority has requested that the government disclose comprehensive details regarding contracts awarded under the ‘Big Push’ major road infrastructure programme.

According to Kennedy Osei Nyarko, Ranking Member of the Parliament’s Roads and Transportation Committee and MP for Akim Swedru, speaking to journalists on Tuesday, March 24, 2026, this transparency will foster accountability.

He emphasised that adequate resourcing and efficient implementation of the Big Push initiative could substantially enhance connectivity and unlock key economic corridors nationwide.

This call follows a report by The Fourth Estate highlighting concerns over procurement processes, specifically the widespread use of sole-sourcing and potential cost inflation in contract awards.

The Fourth Estate is alleging the minister for roads and highways, Governs Kwame Agbodza, oversaw 81 sole-sourced contracts valued at over GHS73 billion within seven months.

The lawmaker noted the full contract details, including the identities of contractors, the scope of work assigned to each, and the unit cost per kilometre, must be published.

This, he noted, was essential to restoring public trust and ensuring accountability in infrastructure delivery.

“We strongly believe that the government must, as a matter of urgency, publish the full details of these contracts. This will give Ghanaians the opportunity to independently assess the policy and promote transparency in the execution of the programme,” he said.
