DSP Abdul Jalil removed from IGP’s special ops team

The Inspector General of Police’s Special Operations Team entered a new era on Tuesday following a formal change of command ceremony held at the National Police Training School.

The event, conducted with full police honours on 7 April 2026, saw the outgoing leader, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Bawah Abdul Jalil, officially relinquish his command.

He handed over the mantle of leadership to Superintendent Augustine Dawson Amoah, who now takes the helm of the elite unit.

Superintendent Amoah will be assisted by a dedicated team of three senior officers as they move forward with the unit’s high-stakes mandate.

In his remarks , DSP Jalil reflected on his tenure and expressed his gratitude to the personnel for their unwavering service.

He rged every member of the team to extend the same level of loyalty and cooperation to his successor.

Such support, he noted, is vital to maintaining the unit’s operational momentum and ensuring the safety of the public remains uncompromised.

Superintendent Amoah expressed his readiness to tackle the challenges ahead.

He stressed the need on the core values of unity, discipline, and uncompromising professionalism.

He assured the assembled officers of his personal commitment to their welfare and to the strategic success of the team, noting that the unit’s strength lies in its collective resolve to uphold the law.
