President John Dramani Mahama has reiterated his government’s commitment to establishing a new College of Education in the Jomoro Constituency of the Western Region.
Speaking during a recent interview regarding the improvement of educational infrastructure, the President confirmed that the institution will be built from scratch in Ezinlibo.
This project is intended to augment the country’s existing teacher-training capacity and forms a core component of the broader Resetting Ghana agenda, which includes upgrading facilities across all existing colleges to improve national learning conditions.
The Minister of Education, Haruna Iddrisu, recently outlined the formal plans for the college, describing it as a historic and strategic intervention designed to expand access to teacher training and accommodate more students locally.
For the Jomoro Constituency, this development is expected to attract students from across the Western Region and beyond, while simultaneously stimulating local economic activity and positioning the municipality as a growing centre for academic advancement.
The drive for this institution was spearheaded by the Member of Parliament for Jomoro and Deputy Transport Minister, Dorcas Affo-Toffey, alongside the former Chief of Defence Staff, Lt Gen. Peter Augustine Blay (Rtd).
Together, these leaders successfully engineered the proposal for the college’s establishment.
However, alongside these educational advancements, it is equally acknowledged that the condition of roads within the constituency remains a matter of serious public concern that requires attention to support the region’s overall development.
