Deputy Minister for Education, Dr. Clement Apaak, has called on accountants in Ghana to remain agile, innovative, and forward-looking in response to rapid technological changes.

Dr Apaak made the remarks while presenting the Ministry of Education’s report at the 62nd Annual General Meeting of the Institute of Chartered Accountants Ghana at Mawuli Senior High School in Ho in the Volta Region.

He said the evolving global business environment demanded professionals who could adapt quickly to emerging trends and technological advancements.

“In light of the accelerating pace of technological advancement and digital transformation, the Ministry further emphasised the necessity for graduates to remain adaptable, resilient, and forward-looking in their professional practice,” he said.

According to him, professionals who failed to adapt risked becoming irrelevant in an increasingly digital and technology-driven economy.

“The integration of emerging technologies such as data analytics, artificial intelligence, and digital financial systems into accounting and financial management processes requires practitioners who are not only technically proficient but also agile and responsive to change,” Dr Apaak added.

He noted that the accounting profession was no longer limited to traditional bookkeeping and financial reporting, stressing that modern accountants must be equipped to provide strategic advisory services and innovative solutions.

“As we look ahead, it is imperative that the institute continue to consolidate these gains by deepening regulatory oversight, enhancing capacity development, and embracing innovation in response to emerging global and domestic challenges,” he stated.

“The evolving landscape characterised by rapid technological change, increasing demand for transparency, and the growing importance of sustainability calls for a profession that is agile, forward-thinking, and firmly anchored in integrity.”

He commended the Institute of Chartered Accountants Ghana for its efforts in strengthening professional standards, accountability, and financial governance in the country.

Dr Apaak also encouraged newly qualified accountants to uphold integrity, professionalism, and ethical standards while contributing to Ghana’s socio-economic development and transformation.
