The Nae Wulomo, Nuumo Akwaa Mensah III, has called on all media houses, bloggers, social media users, and members of the public to refrain from circulating reports alleging that the Gbese Mantse, Nii Ayi Bonteo II, has passed away.
According to him, the family has not officially communicated any information regarding the alleged death of Nii Ayi Bonte II and therefore urges the public to disregard all unverified reports currently making rounds on social media and other platforms.
He stressed that matters concerning traditional leaders are sensitive and should only be communicated through the appropriate channels after consultation with the family and relevant traditional authorities.
He noted that the spread of false information not only causes unnecessary panic and confusion but also undermines the dignity and respect accorded to traditional institutions.
Nuumo Akwaa Mensah further emphasised that Nii Ayi Bonte II, the Paramount Chief of the Gbese Traditional Area and a respected member of the Ga Traditional Council, deserves the utmost respect.
He therefore appealed to the public to exercise responsibility, restraint, and caution when sharing information concerning him.
He also urged journalists and media organisations to verify information from credible sources before publication, adding that accuracy and professionalism are essential in preserving public trust and protecting the integrity of Ghana’s traditional leadership.
