The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Awutu Senya East, Seth Sabah Serwonoo-Banini, has allegedly stormed the studios of Kasoa-based Obaatanpa Radio and reportedly attacked workers on site.
Details emerging indicate that he was accompanied by Professor Kwesi Asiedu and several other individuals whom witnesses described as “thugs.”
Reporting the story on Nyankonton Mu Nsem on Rainbow Radio 87.5FM, Opanyin Darko stated that the incident occurred while the station was broadcasting a discussion on ongoing internal tensions within the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the constituency.
According to him, the station’s workers claimed they were aggressively questioned about why they were discussing such matters, culminating in the alleged assault of the morning show producer.
The station staff were subsequently ordered to vacate the premises, after which the perpetrators locked the studios and confiscated the keys.
This incident follows recent reports highlighting a long-running dispute between the office of the Member of Parliament for Awutu Senya East, Phillis Naa Koryoo Okunor, and constituency executives of the NDC.
The feud, which reportedly dates back to 2020, is said to have become increasingly volatile in recent months.
Staff at the station later reported the raid to the local authorities, prompting the police to retrieve the studio keys, which are currently being held in police custody.
The morning show producer who was allegedly assaulted has been issued a medical form and is currently seeking medical care at the Kasoa Polyclinic.
While no arrests have been made so far, information reaching the news team indicates that efforts are underway to address the situation.
