The government has no plans to expand the School Feeding Programme to additional schools this year due to a lack of budgetary allocation, according to the Minister for Gender, Children, and Social Protection, Agnes Naa Momo Lartey.
Responding to a parliamentary question on Wednesday, 24 June 2026, from Techiman South MP Martin Adjei-Mensah Korsah, the Minister confirmed that the current coverage of more than 12,045 public schools will remain unchanged until further notice.
She stated that despite the lack of expansion, the government has initiated measures to improve the quality of meals provided to school children.
However, Korsah, a former Minister of Local Government, Decentralisation and Rural Development, challenged this assertion, arguing that the Minister’s failure to provide evidence supporting her claims of improved meal quality meant her statement lacked substance.
