The Western North Regional Police Command has launched an investigation into a fatal shooting incident at Sayerano, located in the Juaboso District of the Western North Region.
The incident, which occurred on Tuesday, 7 July 2026, stemmed from a confrontation between local community members and a police patrol team.
According to preliminary investigations, the altercations resulted in multiple casualties.
Three individuals sustained gunshot wounds, leading to the deaths of two people, whilst three others are currently receiving medical treatment at the Asafo Roman Catholic Hospital.
In the wake of the incident, all eight police officers involved have been interdicted. The Inspector-General of Police has instructed the Police Professional Standards Bureau (PPSB) to undertake a comprehensive inquiry into the full circumstances surrounding the confrontation.
The Regional Command has confirmed that calm has been restored to the area.
Police officials expressed gratitude to local chiefs, community leaders, and stakeholders for their cooperation in stabilizing the situation, whilst assuring the public that a thorough investigation will be conducted as further developments arise.
