The Ghana Police Service has stepped up its clampdown on motorists using unauthorised sirens, strobe lights, and modified headlights within the Ashanti Region.

A joint operation targeted traffic flashpoints at the Airport and Santasi roundabouts in Kumasi. Led by the Ashanti Regional Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD), the exercise received reinforcement from the Central MTTD in Accra and a specialist team from the National Police Headquarters.

Officers intercepted 188 vehicles for various traffic offences during the targeted sweep.

Authorities seized and removed all prohibited audio-visual gadgets, including improvised headlamps and illegal horns.

Drivers caught violating the law were given road safety education and warned to strictly adhere to national road traffic regulations.

The police administration stated that similar enforcement exercises will be extended across the country to restore discipline, safety, and order on public roads.
