A fatal road traffic accident on the Accra–Kumasi Highway at Bunso in the Eastern Region has claimed one life and left 14 others with varying degrees of injury.
The tragic crash occurred on Wednesday, 12 August 2026, near the Paradise Restaurant, involving a heavy-duty MAN Diesel truck and a Toyota Hiace passenger bus.

According to an official statement issued on Thursday by the Eastern Regional Public Relations Officer of the Ghana National Fire Service, the collision happened after the driver of the MAN Diesel truck attempted to give way to a Toyota Vitz. In the process, the truck veered off its lane and crashed directly into the oncoming Toyota Hiace.
Firefighters from the Bunso Fire Station responded swiftly to the distress call, carrying out emergency rescue operations at the scene.

The crew successfully extricated the trapped victims, salvaged personal belongings scattered across the crash site, and rushed the injured to nearby medical facilities for treatment.

The officers subsequently cleared the wreckage and debris off the stretch to restore the free flow of vehicular traffic on the busy highway. Authorities have since launched an investigation into the incident.
